More Artificial Intelligence Applications; Beware of Tax Time Scams

Beware of Tax-Time Scams
Every year, around tax time, scammers are hard at work trying to separate you from your money. Please use extreme caution before clicking any email links or attachments, and treat any computer pop-ups with suspicion. Also, phone calls from people pretending to be from the IRS or other government agencies are almost always scams. Our advice is to hang up the phone.

LastPass Password Manager Hack

Unfortunately, LastPass, a popular password management application, suffered a data breach.

If you are a Last Pass user, you are highly recommended to change their master passwords and all the passwords stored in their vaults to mitigate potential risks, if not done already.

Many Artificial Intelligence Helpers On the Way

This is a truly exciting time, as we are at the very beginning of harnessing technology in ways that will change how we work, and how we access information. In short, Artificial Intelligence (AI), will change our lives. Many of the mundane, repetitive and time-consuming things we do every day, will be either sped up, refined, or even eliminated using the power of AI.

What is AI?
AI, is where an application helps you do something, usually by you asking it in plain English.

Traditionally, computer systems have required us to learn their language and way of doing things, rather than communicating using words and phrases that are common to humans. That method of communicating with computers is changing FAST!

Last time we talked briefly about ChatGPT, being like a personal assistant that you ask to do things for you and it does them.

Since then, Google has announced it’s own AI, Bard, which works similarly to ChatGPT in that you converse with the AI by asking it to do things.

Microsoft has announced Microsoft 365 Copilot and Bing AI Search. Microsoft 365 Copilot will work within your Microsoft 365 applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Bing AI Search will work on Microsoft Edge browser and Bing search engine.

What Kinds of Things Can AI Help With?
We don’t yet know all the areas where AI will help with yet, but here are some examples of things AI can do right now.

Create a shopping list

Create a recipe from a list of ingredients on hand
Write an article, blog post, essay, poem, or marketing piece

Write computer programming code

Write an outline for a book, a class, or a presentation
